Ewaste Toll Free Hotline for recycling or donating old computers and electronics in Calgary and Alberta.

June 22, 2004 -- Calgary based organization, Electronic Recycling Association of Alberta (ERA), has just installed several new phone lines to accomodate the interest received from organizations in Alberta in the need for their new services.

1-877-9-EWASTE will be answered by live people to help you find information on recycling computers and electronics in Alberta.

This organization holds a database of organizations and people in need of computer and electronic equipment.
Anyone possessing old computer or electronic equipment suitable for donation can now call the hotline and be matched up with someone who could benefit from their equipment.

Past donations include laptops given to people in hospital beds, computers for community centre libraries, computers for daycares and elderly homes.

Electronic Recycling Association of Alberta (ERA) has so far been very succesfull in reducing waste from being burried in our landfills, preventing upwards of 50 tonnes of old computer and electronics equipment from being burried forever. It has also helped various organizations and people in need through its donation programs.

Alberta wide non profit or charitable organizations are invited to request equipment if it will help their cause, as well
as people who may benefit from owning a computer for job training, writing resumes, etc.

So if you have old computer equipment collecting dust, or non working electronics destined to the landfill please use this service to either recycle everything environmentally or donate to help out somebody in need.
